~Only humility will lead us to unity, and unity to peace.
Humility... what does the Bible say about it?
Well...
"By humility and the fear of the Lord, are riches and honor and life." -Proverbs 22:4
and
hmmmm.. just a guess - but I'd say God is in favor of humility :)
Humility does not mean you have to be down on yourself, does not mean you don't have confidence, does not mean you don't love yourself.
Humility is defined as modesty, humbleness and submission. It is the knowing that we are not all there is - that there is a higher power, a GOD that is above, around and encompassing us every second of every day. A knowing of His all divine power and plan. And being in full submission and acceptance of that.
It is realizing that we are but a grain of salt on His beach, about to be drenched in His ocean of mercy.
Lord,
Please make me a road sign. A sign for people to see and follow as they journey along the path of life. And please help my sign lead them on the road to Heaven. AMEN

Psalm 48:14
"For this is God. Our God forever and ever. He will be our guide - even unto death" -Psalm 48:14
What better person is there to follow than the One who created the very path we walk upon?
Listen to Him and your path will be made straight.
Even though it may sometimes seem as though you are wandering in circles, God has a plan for each and every one of us. And asking Him to guide you, with a sincere heart, will always be heard. He is there every step of the way, even when times get tough, paths wide and curve, may seem like a dead end at some points... God is there.
Have faith. Have trust. Be strong. Be courageous.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him. And He will make your path straight." -Proverbs 3:5-6

Failure
"Do not allow yourself to be disheartened by any failure as long as you have done your best."
-Mother Teresa
...wow... Let's just say I really needed to hear those words. Chem Test + Kristen = :(
We can leave it at that.
Psalm 142:3 - "When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path, in the way in which I walk."
Why worry about the future, if it is to be determined by God?
Why dwell upon the past?
God made it that way for a reason.
Why be anxious in the present moment?
It's all we have.
If you live for this moment and live it for God, your future will be taken care of and your past will make sense.
Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God."
Psalm 52:9 - "I will wait on Your name, for it is good."

Peace
"We do not need guns and bombs to bring peace. We need love and compassion."
-Mother Teresa
What are the reasons for war?
What incident is so large, so hurtful that we must kill millions of innocent lives to correct it?
And why were those hurtful actions done in the first place?
Can we not just treat everyone as God would desire us to... If Jesus could go through years of agony and paint to ultimately die the most horrible death possible for a human race that tortured Him, cannot we simply treat each other as His children?
God isn't asking us to hang ourselves on a cross, He is simply asking us not to waste the precious gift He gave us upon that cross.
So live today. Love each other. Love yourself. And live for God.
"Of all the Earthly music, that which reaches farthest into Heaven is the beating of truly loving heart." -Henry Ward Beecher

Easy Peasy Breakfast in a Jar
So I'm jumping on the bandwagon and trying out (enter whatever the heck you can think of here)-In-A-Jar!
Anybody else tried this new-found trend?
Well, this morning, I had a little bit of peanut butter left in the jar...
Anybody else tried this new-found trend?
Well, this morning, I had a little bit of peanut butter left in the jar...
I'd say about a tablespoon or so...
So I threw in the last of my Raisin Bran...
probably a half-cup
Topped it with one sliced banana
Stirred it all around-and DEVOURED!
It may sound strange... but boy oh boy was it nummy!
If anyone else has some delish ...-in-a-jar recipes-leave the link in a comment below!
Peace, love and peanut butter.

Garden of Love
If we have happiness,
if we have love,
or faith
or hope
or any of God's gifts-
but do not share them will they not spoil before we can enjoy them?
But if we sew them among our friends and among our enemies will they not grow and multiple into a garden so large & blessed that all God's people- including ourselves, can enjoy it?
So therefore, today we must go out and begin to plant these seeds, even if we only have a handful, and start a garden of God's graces. But not only that, we must also help others tend to the garden they are planting... especially while they are away.
Together, over time, with the help of God's green thumb, we can create a garden that will feed the souls of all God's children.
Father Lord,
I pray today that we all become your gardens. Help us to plant seeds of faith, hope and charity. Fertilize it with love. And remain stewards of You that possess the hard work necessary to tend to it. May we see every day the graces that are growing and be hopeful in the day of cultivation. Amen <3

Carry My Cross
2 Corinthians 20:15, "Thus says the Lord to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the batte is not yours, but God's' ."
I believe God lets us face problems, not to hurt us, but to see if we remember His number.
It doesn't matter what type of issue it is, God will always be there to carry it on His back for us - just like He did so many years ago.
Father God,
Please help us to all carry our crosses, for we know You are the only one strong enough to handle it. AMEN

Jelly Beans and Sweat Beads
What do you do when you feel like this...
after Insantiy pure Cardio
You grab a hand-ful of jelly beans (given by the best brother ever!)
And feel more like this!
Then have this an hour or so later... after a shower perhaps :)
What I'm getting at is sometimes after a hard workout I get really really bad headaches which (and only a pure assumption here!) I think is caused by hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
So I'm trying this thing where I eat fast acting carbs a few minutes after a workout... we'll see if it helps!
Anybody experience this problem? Any solutions?

Doves
Everyday we should be on the lookout for doves. The dove was a symbol for Noah that the Earth had finally dried and he could begin their new life.
It signified that God forgave and was ready to start anew with us.
We need to send out our doves and both start anew with those who have hurt us, and ask God for His forgiveness as well as willingness to start fresh with us.
If we continue to send out and receive doves, we will be able to find the rainbows in each day.
~Forgiveness is the answer to the child's dream of a miracle by which what is broken is made whole again, what is soiled is again made clean. -Dag Hammarskjold

Son-Rise
Have you ever heard the song, Sway Your Head ?
If not, check it out! But in it, the lyrics say, "Can't you see the sunrise, that came up for you?"
It is spelled sunrise, but I think SON-rise is more appropriate.
Everyday, when we see the sun rise - let it be our reminder that Jesus, the Son of God, rose from the dead after dying the most painful death, for us.
Each of us as a whole, and each of us individually.
So let us enjoy each and every day - it is a gift from God - after all - God wouldn't keep you on this Earth if He didn't have something He wanted you to do, some way for you to help Him fulfill His ultimate plan. How cool is that?! God wants us on His team :) Woah.. big stuff!
So today, let us enjoy every second - because God has chosen to let us represent Him for one more day. And also, let us be open to whatever new and exciting ways He wants us to serve Him. Let our humble prayer be that we fulfill these tasks with love and grace as best we can.
Amen <3
~ "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." -Psalm 118:24

Amber Alert!
I hope you aren't upset that is a fake Amber Alert - but tonight in church I had was thinking about how to bring people to God, and why....
But then God started talking...
and thankfully I was listening.
This is what I learned ~
What happens when a parent loses their child?
They search for them.
They do everything they can to get their child back! They... put out an Amber Alert.
And what do the parents friends, family, acquaintances do? Help search!
Call everyone they know, look for the child, work-work-work to try and get the child back to their parents.
So why aren't we doing the same?
How sad is it, that a child may never find their Father. How terrible it would be to never get to see your loving parent again, or see your beautiful child? We cannot let this happen!
God's children are lost, all over the world! They don't know where their Father is, most don't even know they have a Father, and that He is looking for them!
It's up to us to find them, tell them where their Father is, and get them back to Him ASAP!
Are you with me!?

Don't Care!
"The Lord your God is with you... He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." - Zephaniah 3:17
God doesn't care.
Ok... let me clarify!
God doesn't care about your past - He's forgiven and forgotten; doesn't care about your race - we are all His children; doesn't care about your outward appearance - He created us the way He envisioned us; doesn't care if you're popular, He thinks you're "to die for"
Well, I guess He doesn't care in the way this world cares - He doesn't base His judgement upon you because of those things.
Galatians 5:6 says, "For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor un-circumcisions. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself."
He just wants us, forever.
And He wants us just as we are - no make-up needed, no fancy clothes, no awards... just our hearts - for all eternity.
~There is no need to plead that the Love of God shall fill our hearts as though He were unwilling to fill us... Love is pressing around us on all sides like air. Cease to resist it and instantly love takes possession. - Amy Carmichael

Attune Foods - Cereal LOVE
Cereal.
Quick, easy to prepare, delicious, satisfying.
What's left to say? It's the perfect meal.... but is there evil lurking?
Let's take a look-see!
Hmm... 50+% of its weight is sugar? Cool.
NOT!
Alright alright, so point made-not all cereal is the 'perfect' fuel for your body.
But not all cereal is made to sabotage your attempts at living a healthy life.
Enter, Attune Foods
That's their theory, and I like it!
So they were kind enough to allow me to sample some of their products and let you wonderful readers know my thoughts
I was sent
And
Raisin Bran = SUCCESS!
Why? Well, aside from being tasty, just the right amount of sweetness from the raisins, it also has AMAZING nutritional stats..
Check it-
Yeah Buddy! See that? The sugar? No?
OH WAIT! That's because there isn't any!
I get soooo annoyed when cereal companies think it is necessary to add sugar... like for reals?! Come on, it is a cereal with raisins- a naturally sweet food-why are you adding more sugar?!
Whatev. I'm over it... (not really)
But anyways -
This is what the Raisin Bran looks like...
Not huge flakes like you may be expecting-smaller, but still delicious, don't get me wrong!
So it's no secret I love their Raisin Bran, but what about the others?
Well, the Erewhon Crispy Rice got thrown into my Peanut Butter Granola recipe - and boy oh boy was it a success! Try it for yourself, you won't be sorry!
And the Uncle Sam Original? GREAT!
It had a neutral flavor that allows for you to add whatever kinds of mix-in's you want and have your bowl of cereal perfectly match your taste!
(I enjoy slices of bananas and using strawberry milk, crazy maybe-delicious yes.)
So that's that!
I'm loving me some Attune Food cereal!
They make delicious products, with minimal-but wholesome ingredients that you can feel good about putting in your body.
No preservatives, no artificial anything, no harm, all yum!
Attune - Simple Ingredients. Simply Made.
(Kristen's addition - Simply DELICIOUS!)

Chemistry and God
So today at my Chemistry Review session, God had a lot to tell me!
What? You are confused at how God talks to us through a Chem Review? Yea... don't blame you-but hear me out!
First off, I just wanna throw the fact that Jesus can talk to us through any and every life situation you we take the time to listen... but onto today's specifics~
As we were working through problems, my professor asked, "what are the ways you can find delta S?"
Random assortment of answers came back at him, but he wasn't taking any of them.
"No, what is the best way to find delta S?"
Again, more equations and such flooded the room.
"You don't understand, the best and easiest way to find delta S is if I give it to you!"
Oh.
It got me thinking... how many times has God tried to help us, but we weren't accepting?
How many times has He just given us the answer-but we were too stubborn, trying to find it ourselves?
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:19
A few problems later, while discussing phase changes our professor mentioned that, "You have to turn the stove on if you want it to boil."
How true is this for life?
If we want something, let's do something about it.
Not just sit there idle.
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" - Colossians 3:23
As we wrapped up the review session, I was hit with another message - "Students, all you really need to do on this test is to find the point of the equation and solve it."
Talk about life.
What is this life about?
This is our question. And we spend 100 years (if we're lucky) trying to figure it out. Some are blessed enough to figure it out early on and just spend the rest of their lives enjoying it! Others, unfortunately never find it.
But what is the point? The reason for living?
Jesus.
Living and serving God - that is the point! This world is the equation, and following Jesus' teachings and bringing others to His loving arms is the solution!
I'm going to leave you with the same words my professor left with us.
Be Confident.
Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Gardener
John 15:1-2 ~ "I am the True Vine and My Father is the Vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes away that it may bear more fruit."
There is much we can take from this verse...
First - Jesus is the True Vine.
The end.
Just kidding! Ok, Jesus is the True Vine. This means He is the beginning and the end. All life comes from Him and life can only be attained by living in HIm. All the nutrients necessary for survival will be supplied by Him.
If we try to live without Him, we will perish.
This verse also shows God as the Ultimate Farmer. He is the One who planted the Vine and gave Him all He needs to gives us. He (God) also 'prunes away the branches that bear fruit.'
This means that just because we are living a life for God doesn't mean it will be easy.
God is going to continually allow circumstances into our lives that, when handled correctly will only make us stronger and better able to serve Him in eternity.
Instead of being discouraged, let us use these times to show God our strength and trust.
I know this is extremely difficult... especially when life throws an extremely difficult Chem. test at you! But a goal is still a goal...
John 10:10 ~ "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Child of God
When we call on God, He bends down His ear to listen. As a father bends dow to listen to his little child. -Elizabeth Charles
John 10:27-28, "My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My Hand."
We are God's children, He tells us over and over that if we allow Him to be our Shepherd and lead us, He will guide us to Eternal life with Him.
And no one can take that away from us.
It is an invitation from God's heart to ours and our decision alone to make.
If we accept the invite and allow Jesus into our heart, He promises He will love and look after us forever.
To stay with us, to hold our hand, to guide and protect us from evil.
Sounds like the deal of a lifetime - actually that deal that will last beyond a lifetime.
How amazing will it be to hear Our Father say, "Welcome Home Child, I've missed you."
I know what my decision will be, have you made yours?
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" ~1 John 3:1

Ultimate G.P.S.
Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding"
God is the ultimate G.P.S. system. (that is - Great Path for Souls)
Just as a GPS knows exactly where you are going, as does God.
He knows where you're suppose to end up in this life, and just like a GPS - God may not take you the exact route you had initially thought of. Sometimes the path may seem to be a longer or unsafe route... one you were not planning on.
But maybe, just maybe - that is because God is avoiding the unpleasant situations you would have ended up in if you were to take your plans.
It is when we (the drivers) attempt to lean upon our own understanding, that we get caught in heavy traffic, a roadblock or worse - get completely lost!
Have no fear, your eternal GPS will always be there to re-route our path is we but ask. It may take patience, but if we truly listen to our GPS's voice, calling us to 'turn here' we can be sure to end up in our eternal destination.
How great will it be to hear our GPS finally say...
"You have reached your destination"
"Welcome Home."

Marathon Training
If you're reading this post expecting information on how to best prepare you body to run 26.2 miles, sorry to disappoint. This post will not contain the greatest post-run meal, stretches or sore muscles... but that doesn't mean it isn't worth reading...
Love, on this Valentine's day it's an obviously thing to think, talk, obsess over! Which is fine... right? Love in and of itself is an amazing gift from God
But what happens when we start making this earthly love our idol? When we become consumed with romance, our significant other at the time, flowers, red heart, pink glitter and the like...
Is this what God intended when He created man and woman?
Hebrews 12:1 tells us, "to run with endurance the race that is set before us". What does this mean? We're suppose to be physically fit? Not exactly... more along the lines of running this earthly race, to where? Heaven.
Alright, alright, so we're here, on earth, working hard trying to get to Heaven. Got it.
So where does love between a man and woman come into this?
If running to Heaven is the race - let's say marathon, what would be easier:
1.) Running the marathon all by yourself
or
2.) Running the race with someone right there beside you, cheering you on, sharing in the rough uphill battles, and enjoying the sunny-downhill moments?
I don't know about you, but I'd pick #2.
This is what God created the man/woman relationship for. He knew this race wasn't going to be a light jog in the park. It'll be full of pain, agony, exhaustion-but also enjoyment, triumph and enteral victory!
He created man for woman and woman for man to be each others teammate on the race to Heaven.
-Find a workout buddy. You must find a teammate that is on your level. If you were serious about a marathon would you want to train everyday with someone who always lagged behind? NO You would constantly be using all your energy to pull them along, and not compete to your best ability.
You need someone to push you, to encourage you and to make the run enjoyable! But keep in mind that you are running with your teammate, not to your teammate - the difference? God is the prize at the end-not your teammate.
-Train smart. But what about before the marathon even starts... we need to be training, right?!
Obviously! You wouldn't just go out and try to run a marathon competitively with no prior training would you?
So we can think of dating as training... going out and running a few miles here, a few there, the longer you run (date) the more fit (closer in your relationship) you get and the more prepared you are for the race. You can start to be able to handle the runs that have rain, or wind, or maybe even snow - hardships and problems that may arise in your relationship.
-Eat Right. If you're training, you of course aren't filling your body with junk food! That would ruin your chances of winning the raceSo why do this to a relationship? (I don't mean you can't eat candy together!) I'm talking about the junk that can fill a relationship if you let it - the impure thoughts and actions that will only slow you down and make the race difficult. This could be anything from impure movies, to books, to putting yourselves in tempting situations.
-Stretch. Both before and after right? Stretching allows you to be able to withstand the new pressures being put on your body - so how can you accomplish this in a relationship? prayer.
-Gradually build up mileage. Just like you don't start the first day of training with a twenty miler, you don't need to jump into marriage, or a relationship within the first few days/weeks/whatever either. Slow and steady wins the race (liking all my running puns here?)
While I don't know where my running trail is going to lead next, or whether or not I will have a teammate by my side, I know I will always have the Eternal Prize waiting for me at the finish line and I am going do everything I can to win the race set before me. And I pray the same for each and every one of you.
God Bless!

Got it.

So live your life...
John 14:16, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life"
Life... what's it all about? No, really- I'm not talking about peanut butter or coffee hear (though they do make it quite enjoyable!) I mean what are we, you, anyone living for?
Money? Prosperity? Enjoyment?
By any chance is it this?
Life... what's it all about? No, really- I'm not talking about peanut butter or coffee hear (though they do make it quite enjoyable!) I mean what are we, you, anyone living for?
Money? Prosperity? Enjoyment?
By any chance is it this?
Is is God? His Love and His Promises?
What is life without God? And what is a life if not spent living fo God?
There isn't one. In my humble opinion anyway.
This earthly life is nothing more than a grain of sand in an hourglass that will soon run out. I don't mean this to be morbid, but in the scope of eternity-it is so true.
But a life spent for God is spent as an enjoyable ride on the journey to eternal joy.
So why worry about tomorrow, why worry about today?
They are merely stepping stones to Heaven and the eternal happiness it will bring.
Lord, please help remind us all this Lenten season how small the dealings of this life truly are. Help us to live a life of meaning - a life for You. As I seek to deepen our relationship, please help may be filled with Your zeal and love of life and I pray that I (we) may be a beacon of these things everyday You wake us up and allow us to sing Your praises and spread Your love another day.
Amen.
Here's to a blessed Lenten Season filled with love and renewal of the spirit! God Bless!

Big Train
It's obvious that I'm a coffee addict...
Ice coffee is my new THANG - it's just so chill.
So when I find something that has protein, vitamins & minerals, is ubber easy to prepare and tastes good. Ya'll know I'm gonna let'ya know about it, right?!
right.
So here's the low down (ok, wow-don't really know why I'm all 'fresh prince of bel-air' up in here... maybe due to the copious amount of caffeine I've had (due to what I'm about to inform you on) or maybe because I'm eating a BIG bowl of granola from Impact Foods? Or maybe, just because I'm a happy person who knows Jesus loves her :)
...ya probs the last one!
Anywho's - I was so graciously given a sampling of Big Train's products to enjoy and then report back to my lovely readers, and a colorful, happy report it will be!
Big Train is a drink mix manufacturer that makes all kinds of stuff!
You can find something for every taste-bud, nutritional desire, and budget!
I got a sampling of different teas, iced coffees and their newest line - Fit Frappes
I'm going to give you the 4-1-1 on the Fit Frappes, since they are new and delicious and nutritious and, well-because I want to!
These are essentially a healthy frappe that you can make at home with just the addition of water. You can make them hot, cold, or blended - I did cold (oh...if only I had a blender...)
Each serving has around 20g protein, less than 1g sugar, 5g fiber, 20-50% of close to a bajillion vitamins and minerals (give or take) and 130 calories
Like, are you serious right now?! Did anyone else nearly faint when they saw this! I did.
Twice.
All I did was add my wonderful packet - btw - Espresso flavor is the bomb.com
I really hope you clicked that link :P
Anyways, all I did was add my packet to a cup/mixer/blender/thing, add between 12-16oz. water, shake away and pour over ice! I also added a little milk to mine, just to make things even more creamy!
Oh. So. Good. (even better when alongside a peanut butter sandwich!)
I have to admit, it separated a tinsy bit into the grainy-stuff, but that was probably due to not shaking it long enough
All in all-so delicious! And gave me anice crazy caffeine jolt (the espresso one has about 200mg caffeine)
FYI - a 19.1 oz. canister will only set you back about twenty dollars (and that is 20 - 8oz. servings) way more economical that the buck's Star. (starbucks... sorry, my attempt to be clever!)
If any of you like iced coffee, you should definitely give this company a go, there are a TON of flavors and even non-caffeinated kinds - heck, even those of you who don't like coffee in any form should look at all the great product this company has. From smoothie drinks to hot chocolate (which I also got to sample and both my friend and I agreed it was DELICIOUS!) to low carb baking mixes, I'm sure you'll find something delicious and exciting to try!

Peanut Butter Cookie Granola
Peanut Butter + Granola = :)
Dare I say more?
This recipe requires no commentary, no extra words tell you how amazing it is and persuading your to make it-I mean, you'd be crazy to see a recipe containing the words peanut butter and granola and not deciding to make it within 35.39 seconds
Just Crazy.
So here's the low-down...
melt peanut butter and margarine
til margarine is completely liquified - then add honey and egg white
combine it with a bunch of other random stuff..
throw it on a pan and stash in your 250* oven for 45 minutes or so
and magically it will turn into this!
Ingredients:
1.5 TBSP margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 TBSP honey
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg white
1 tsp. baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 cup oats
1/2 cup fiber one cereal
1 1/2 cup crispy brown rice cereal
1 TBSP. chia seeds (opt.)
2 TBSP. flax seeds (opt.)
Preheat oven to 250*
Melt your peanut butter and margarine, then add all ingredients up to salt.
Mix well
Combine dry ingredients together
Pour wet-melted stuff over the dry and stir to coat all
Place on a cookie sheet and bake-stirring every 10 minutes for 40 minutes to an hour; until pieces are 'dry' but not overly brown
Swirled into a peanut butter smoothie?
Heaven on Earth.

Comfort Food...
Everyone has it.
Some are ashamed of it.
Some are proud.
Some pretend they actually don't have one.
Others let themselves indulge in it whenever they want, others only use it when needed.
comfort food!
I don't know about you guys, but my comfort foods are usually baked goods (ok and a good steak and mashed potatoes too)
But more often than not, when I've had a bad day or am stressed, or whatever-I just want some homemade CARBS!
And that is just what my mama brought me when she came to visit me at college this weekend-isn't she the best?!
So my family all came to attend an induction ceremony for Phi Upsilon Omicron - no not a sorority - an honors society for the college of education and human sciences
I was awesome to get to see them, if only for a little while!
We went shopping and I tried on children's shoes (WHAT?! they're so much cheaper than adult shoes! and usually come in more fun colors :)
Snacked on some Two Moms in the Raw granola bars!
